Lots!!

Dave works on color studies for The Legend of Wisconsin, due in stores this July.

In the next few months you will have the chance to see the paintings I did for two new books by Kathy-jo Wargin, The Voyageur's Paddle and The Legend of Wisconsin.

My dear wife, Pat Bauer, and I have just returned from Chelsea, Michigan, home of my publisher, Sleeping Bear Press, where we hand-delivered the paintings for The Legend of Wisconsin and had a delightful time with everyone there. We saw an advance copy of The Voyageur's Paddle, and were quite happy to see the end result of a long winter's work.

Needless to say, I spent the better part of the last 7 months working on the 40 pieces for these two books. Models dressed in late 18th century fur trade costumes, animal heads sculpted out of modeling clay, many late hours covered in paint. I don't think life could get much better!! Now we begin the work of promoting the books at bookstores, book festivals, historic sites, libraries . . . anywhere we can!

Coming June 1st!

So, head over to The Red Balloon Bookshop in Saint Paul on the evening of Friday, June 1st, for the release party for The Voyageur's Paddle. I probably won't bring a birch bark canoe, but who knows, Pat may talk me into wearing a voyageur costume . . .
