Historical Art, Picture Book Illustrations, Landscape Paintings
Meet Dave!
I am a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based artist specializing in historical art, picture book illustrations and landscape paintings.
Much of my childhood revolved around drawing, reading, playing with toy soldiers or dressing up in historic costume. It seems that some things don’t change, and it turns out, it’s all about storytelling.
I received an education in Visual Merchandising from the Dakota County Technical College and spent 4 years as a United States Marine, where I was a graphic specialist and illustrator.
A decade working as a costumed interpreter at Historic Fort Snelling allowed me to share my passion for history and led to a continuing artistic relationship with the Minnesota Historical Society. It is also where I met my dear wife, author and teacher, Patricia Bauer.
I am happy to say my artwork has been featured in multiple issues of The History Channel Magazine; I have illustrated over a dozen picture books, and more are coming; historic sites and museums use my work to tell the story of local and national history; and a growing number of collectors have my paintings hanging on their walls.
This is what I always wanted to do. I am a storyteller with a paint brush.
